ASDC COMMITTEE
Our current committee members for 2016/2017 have a combined wealth of knowledge, education and experience. They are highly dedicated members of the ASDC, to the members and also to the dermal science industry. Please read below for each members brief synopsis.

CARLY WHYTCROSS
Chairperson
Carly graduated from the Bachelor of Health Science Dermal Therapies degree in 2010. For the past 8 years she has worked in Canberra’s leading Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Clinic (CAPS Clinic) for renowned Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr Alastair Taylor.
Carly is a senior Dermal Clinician within the practice and her experience and dedication has lead her towards mentoring, training and educating new staff within the practice as well as a clinic supervisor at Victoria University. She is passionate about all facets of the dermal sector but her eye for detail has created a special interest in treating acne and photodamage. Carly is currently considering further study to enhance her thirst for knowledge, with preparations for post graduate options underway.

VERA KOSLOVA-FU
Vice Chairperson
Vera is a lecturer in dermal science for the college of Health & Biomedicine, and specializes in light and laser therapies, including laser safety. She has taught and shared her knowledge within the industry for many years, and has undertaken key roles in the development, co-ordination and management of educational units within dermal science.
Vera has been the director of a successful dermal therapy clinic for over 18 years and brings a wealth of experience, mentoring many students and Dermal Clinicians within the industry.
With clinical specialization in laser use, Vera is a working party member of ARPANSA, and is often consulted upon legislation into industry use of lasers.

Amanda Younan
Secretary General
Amanda Younan. Current NSW Clinical Educator for Advanced Skin Technology (AST). Over the past several years Amanda has assisted in the growth and development of the state's cosmeceutical education, and facilitated training and education for over 15 brands. After completing the Bachelor of Health Science- Dermal Therapies degree, Amanda pursued a dermal therapies career in London, followed by opening her own clinic in Sydney. She is strongly passionate about education and helping support and adopt training resources.

JENNIFER BYRNE
Professional Education/Governance
Jennifer is a lecturer in dermal science for the College of Health & Biomedicine at Victoria University (Melbourne) and has been since 2007.
In her academic teaching she has a clinical and interdisciplinary focus teaching dermal practice units as well as a role liaising with industry and healthcare practitioners and facilitates in student placements.
These connections have enabled the ASDC to form relationships with medical and dermal therapy professional bodies nationally and internationally. As the ASDC Chairperson (2013-2015), governance officer (2016) and now in professional education Jennifer also liaises with government bodies and departments, educational providers and professional bodies. Jennifer aims in this role to ensure the ASDC have a voice in the political arena particurlary to ensure quality of dermal therapy education and working toward projects such as industry accreditation.
Jennifer's clinical, teaching and research specialisation focus on techniques and skills employed by dermal clinicians in managing wounds and scars as well as dermatoses related to chronic conditions and diseases such as diabetes and Lymphoedema. Those of special interest include electrotherapies and light/laser treatments.

Samantha Reeve
Membership Secretary
Samantha graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor of Health Science (Dermal Therapies) in 2014. Since graduating, Samantha has been engaged with the Victoria University Dermal Teaching Clinic as a Clinical Supervisor, working closely with lecturers and students to ensure the continued education and growth of students in the final years of their Degree.
Samantha also manages a boutique Melbourne skin clinic, where she works closely with a small group of Doctors to employ her evidence based learning in order to treat and manage a variety of different skin conditions.
Samantha hopes to continue to share her passion for Dermal Therapies with the industry by continually promoting and upholding the high standards of practice outlined by Victoria University and the Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians.

CLAIRE COULSTOCK
Professional Education
Claire qualified as a Dermal Clinician in 2012 and has over 5 years experience in a busy Melbourne based Dermal Clinic. Since graduating, she took on a sessional role as a student educator within the Victoria University Dermal Clinic, working across a variety of subjects, which also led to the opportunity of a full time position as a Lecturer and supervisor. Her time is spent working closely with students and contributing to their growth, strengthening Claire's view on the importance of assisting in developing ongoing education opportunities, which will lead to professional growth for students and qualified Dermal Clinicians.
Claire believes that the hunger we all share for knowledge as an industry, stems from a passion to ultimately provide her clients with a treatment that will improve their concerns for health and aesthetic purposes. To be the best, Claire believes we need to be exposed to the best. Claire feels she works well in contributing to a team who share the desire to source new and exciting speakers, to assist in opening new networking and evidence-based opportunities for our expanding industry.

GAY WARDLE
Governance
With over three decades of experience in the beauty industry, Gay Wardle is one of Australia’s most awarded salon owners and educators.
“Skin analysis is my passion and I drive this agenda both nationally and internationally”.
In 2012, Gay graduated from the Victoria University with a Bachelor of Health Science in Dermal Therapies. Currently a member of Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians, Gay ensures that she personally remains up to date with cutting edge and current treatments by attending and supporting medical conferences and various symposiums focusing on skin education.
With experience as both a successful business owner and an educator Gay is a sought after speaker both in Australia and Internationally. She has presented at exhibitions such as the Sydney and Melbourne international beauty expos, New Zealand beauty expo, A5M, ASDCS (Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians), Face Facts skin symposium and has addressed numerous women’s business groups on the skills of running a successful small business.
Gay measures her success by leading her students and colleagues through self-reflection processes and gaining insight into the knowledge and skills that they have developed and the distance that they have traveled in their own learning and understanding.

Louise Moss
Treasurer
Louise currently holds the position of Treasurer in the ASDC. Louise has been teaching Beauty Therapy at Victoria Polytechnic, TAFE division of Victoria University (Melbourne) since 1987. She is the current Course Co-ordinator for Beauty Therapy. Louise has also lectured and tutored in the Dermal Therapies degree course. Louise has a special interest in Manual Lymph Drainage and has tutored in the Manual Lymph Drainage student clinics.

MONICA SCHMAL
Media and Marketing
Monica is one of the more recent graduands from Victoria Universities BHSc Dermal Therapies having completed her studies at the end of 2013, where she also won the ASDC’s award for ‘Outstanding Research Student’.
Her career objective is to continually improve and work upon her skills and knowledge within the dermatological and aesthetics field that is innovative and satisfies her ambitions to achieve and maintain high levels of competency, while providing high quality services and education.
Monica is passionate about the ASDC and what it stands for and hopes to positively contribute and help raise its profile and awareness within the industry.
